Ever wondered why you feel ‘at peace’ when you hear our beloved songbirds’ tunes? Scientific research proves that good mental health and exposure to nature are powerfully linked. Indeed, 4 out of 5 Brits say birdsong makes them happier, and 72% say it makes them feel less stressed.
We are celebrating author Charlie Corbett’s book launch this month by giving 12 lucky winners the chance to win a hardback copy of ‘12 Birds To Save Your Life, Nature’s Lessons in Happiness’ worth £14.99!
Charlie explores his own experience of re-connecting with nature after the untimely death of his mother. Corbett believes we can all be ‘saved’, so long as we know where to look, and how to listen to birds.
Charlie is a long-standing supporter of our charity and shares the SongBird Survival mission to halt the 50% decline seen in UK songbirds in the past 50 years. Indeed, he mentions us in his book!
Throughout the book, he identifies many UK songbirds which have declined over the past 50 years including the Song Thrush (-51%), Bullfinch (-41%), House Sparrow (-69%), Curlew (-38%), House Martin (-75%) and the Skylark (-63%).
