Amazing action shot of feisty Mistle thrush!

A long-standing member and loyal supporter of SBS had great success with capturing nature in action recently.

Karl Talbott from Roxburghshire in Scotland told us "We have a pair of mistle thrushes nesting in woodland by our garden.

Mistle thrush

A greater spotted woodpecker has been trying to take the young chicks from the thrush's nest, as well as a nearby great tit nest, but mistle thrushes are valiant in defending their nest, making even jackdaws and wood pigeons flee in terror!"

Karl managed to get a shot of the pesky woodpecker being warned off by the courageous mistle thrush, saving her chicks for another day.

Defending the nest!
