We need you!

We need your help to spread the word about SongBird Survival at the shows and events we attend all over the UK.

What will I be doing?

We do not expect volunteers to spend long hours standing around; we do expect you to have fun and enjoy the show alongside helping out at the SBS stand and learning more about SBS and becoming one of the team!

We need you to:

  • help run our stand
  • provide information to visitors
  • spread the word about our important research work.

SBS trustees or staff members will set up the stand and be at the show for the duration of the event.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for volunteers who are friendly and approachable with the ability to communicate well. We don’t expect volunteers to know everything but a passion for the work of SongBird Survival is important.

We have all manner of people visit the stand; some don’t want to speak with anyone, some want to tell you about their experiences, others have specific enquiries. Some want to buy something, others want to join SBS as a member. It is very interesting and varied work!

What benefits can I expect?

SBS provides tickets for show entry and tea and coffee, but travel (and accommodation) are the volunteer’s responsibility. It is recommended that food is brought with you as purchasing food on site can be expensive at shows.

Time commitment

Shows vary in length, although busy periods tend to be from 10am to 4pm, and this is when we really need extra help.

We always try to have at least 4 people helping on each day of any event – this means at least 2 people are on the stand at all times, and there is plenty of cover for breaks and for volunteers to have time to see the show themselves.
